Help pay for Ky’s surgery

It is with a heavy heart that I find myself sharing this unexpected chapter in Ky's journey. Never did I anticipate my best friend being hooked up to an IV in the emergency department on Christmas Eve.

This past summer: Ky lost all his hair and was very lethargic all the time and it revealed a diagnosis of hypothyroidism. He's been taking a daily medication and he got his mojo back - as well as HIS HAIR! He's been doing fantastic and it was like he was aging backwards. People thought he was a puppy again until last Monday. He stopped eating, consumed excessive water, and was urinating an abnormal amount. After lab work, we discovered he has hypercalcemia secondary to hyperparathyroidism. He needs his parathyroid removed. Until this surgery, Ky won't be his goofy, loving, stubborn, treat-loving, and energetic self again.

I will be picking up extra shifts in the emergency department that I work at but I still find myself in a situation where financial constraints are a reality. Despite having already spent thousands for Ky's emergency visit, additional costs loom ahead for a specialist's neck scan and the removal of the parathyroid. While the final quote is pending, the estimated range is between $3,000 and $8,000.

Five years ago, I welcomed Ky, my golden retriever, into my life as a celebration of becoming a nurse. Wherever I am, anywhere I go, you will see a leash around my wrist and my bestfriend Ky trotting along side me. He's my baby and we are a dynamic duo.
