Our beloved father, grandfather, and husband, George Milosavljevic Sr., desperately needs your help to return home to New York City from Serbia. An American citizen for over 50 years, George was on a family trip celebrating his wife’s 75th birthday when tragedy struck. During the birthday dinner, George suffered a major ischemic stroke, quickly followed by a second, even more severe stroke affecting his brainstem. He went into respiratory arrest and was resuscitated, leaving him severely impaired and in critical condition.

Initially admitted to an under-resourced rural hospital, his family urgently transferred him via private ambulance to a better-equipped hospital in Belgrade, Serbia’s capital. Despite receiving intensive care, George remains in the ICU. His family, including his son, George Jr., an FDNY firefighter who immediately flew to Serbia, is now desperately trying to arrange for him to come home to New York, where he can receive the advanced medical care and rehabilitation he urgently needs.

Because flying poses extreme risks for stroke patients, only two costly options are available. The safest—a private medical air ambulance equipped as a flying hospital—costs $175,000, an overwhelming amount for the family. The alternative, a riskier but more cost effective option, is to fly him on a commercial flight with stretcher accommodation and 2 medical escorts. That costs $33,000 and won't be available until July 28th.

George’s health is fragile, and every day counts. His greatest wish, communicated as best he can, is simply to return home and be close to his five beloved grandchildren. The family has already exhausted substantial financial resources to cover his medical care and transportation expenses thus far.
