Help Jonathan with His Wood Shop
Donation protected
My Website is: www.jean-pauldesigns.com
My name is Jonathan Merchant. I was a youth minister for 20 years. Then, I decided to take a break and work on my studies so I took a temp job as a truck driver. Six months later I had 2,000 lbs of frozen meat fall on top of me crushing two disks in my back. I had surgery to fuse my back and since have not been able to do much due to more damage from the accident that hasn't gotten fixed yet. Workers Comp is slow to work with! That was 3 years ago. I have tried getting different jobs with no success because of the restraints my back puts on me.
One thing I can still do is small projects in my makeshift wood shop. I have a mini lathe and a chop saw that lets me make pens and such. I can do this because I'm able to work when my back can work. Sometimes that's at 3:00am. Also, since the shop is at my house, I can work in short intervals to give my back rest.
I want to make a living on my own. Right now, the only way we make it is with help form our church, family and friends. But, I want to make a living on my own. The only thing I am completely set up to make in my wood shop are pens. That's all I have on my website at the moment. It's near impossible to make a living just selling pens. So, I need to expand what I can do. I've worked with wood all my life and am very good at it. With the right tools I can make jewellery boxes, pool cues, small end tables, pipes, chess sets, picture frames, signs, etc.
Anyone who donates $500 or more will get a 50% off coupon to use on any one item on my website once a year for life.
Here is what I want the money for:
CNC machine- $3900.00 (This machine hooks up to a computer and carves whatever image is scanned into the computer onto wood. It can do signs and pictures or whatever else. I could make a whole business, almost, just from this machine.)
Jet Wood Lathe - 16"x42" 2 HP - $2650.00 (I have a mini lathe for pens and such. But, with a large lathe I can make bowls, vases, pool cues, etc. It's actually hard to list what all I can do with a full size lathe.)
DeWalt 13" Planner - $649.00
Large Drill Press - $849.00
Band Saw - 14" $1,599.00 (This is one of the most important tools to have in a wood shop.)
Router bits - $1,000.00 (I have the router and router table. I just need bits. Some bits are as much as $90 a piece.)
Clamps - $500.00
Wood - $1,000.00 (Need wood to start and nice wood is not cheap)
Taxes on all this: $1,125.00
Advertising and additional web development - $1,500.00
(I have a website. Www.jean-pauldesigns.com. I have help with the website as well. What I need is money for advertising.)
