Support Cassie’s Battle Against Cancer

Hello, everyone.
My name is Tony Rivera. I am starting this Gofundme campaign on behalf of my wife, Cassie, who was recently diagnosed with cancer. She has been in the hospital for about a month now and was feeling ill for about two months beforehand, with no apparent cause. The news has stricken our families with grief and home has not been the same without her present. The hospital is still running further tests, but all that we currently know is that she has a type of B-cell lymphoma. She will be receiving a mix of steroids, as well as intense chemotherapy. We are unsure how long treatment will take and how long Cassie will remain at the hospital. It all depends on her reaction to treatment.
As a federal employee, Cassie is able to take leave, but will not be receiving any sort of short-term or long-term disability pay. Additionally, I have been home for the Summer with our 3 children since I work for a middle school. Unfortunately, this means that I have also not been receiving pay. Luckily, we had planned for my Summer by saving to accommodate the difference, but we could not predict that Cassie would fall so ill and require such intense treatment so rapidly.
As our savings begin to dry, there is real concern about our ability to pay the bills, including the incurring medical bills, and we are afraid that we may ultimately end up losing our home.
Gofundme recommended that I set a goal of $16,000 which would, quite honestly, help to keep us stable for a couple of months as we see how Cassie’s situation progresses. We understand that life has gotten more expensive for all of us but we would so greatly appreciate any sort of help that you can provide. Anything that you could share with us to help us during this time would be such a blessing. Even sharing this around would help immensely.
Cassie is such a rockstar. Anyone that knows her knows that she will stubbornly fight her way through anything, cancer included. The doctors have assured us that many lymphomas are treatable and curable. I have no doubt that Cassie is going to kick cancer’s ass. I’d just love for her to not worry about money and the potential for losing everything we’ve built while she lives through this tough time.
Thank you so much for your time.
