Help Lucy Fight Breast Cancer

Hi everyone! My name is Yaritza and I am hoping to help get some help and relief for my sister-in-law, Luzenit Hernández, through her fight with breast cancer.

Lucy is a mother of 3, and stepmom to 2. My brother Jeffrey and Lucy eloped in late November of 2021. As you see, one big happy family! Unfortunately Lucy cannot work during treatment and still has ways to go, and with one income it’s becoming very hard for them with the expenses. At the end of December they lost their second vehicle and now relay with only one car for medical appointments and for my brother to go to work and try to provide.

Lucy was recently diagnosed with an aggressive breast cancer at stage 2. She started treatment in December because they have to shrink the mass to be able to do a double mastectomy. She has been a champ about this. Additionally, she was diagnosed as well with Li-Fraumeni Syndrome. People with LFS have a high risk of developing multiple types of cancer through their lifetime. Women have a higher risk of developing cancer at least once in their lifetime and there is about 50% chance of developing a second type of cancer. Lucy spent New Year’s Eve in the hospital because after her second treatment she was having uncontrolled bleeding. She had a procedure done in January and some polyps were removed from her uterus and a biopsy was also done. Good news is that it is not cancer! Bad news is that out of nowhere they discovered that she has chronic endometriosis and will be needing a hysterectomy in the near future as she also has fibroids. One things about Li-Fraumeni Syndrome is that it is inherited and her 3 children are at risk of if not tested. Currently, they are waiting for their test date (which will be in the next week or so) to see if any of her 3 children are also positive to the TP53 gene which confirms LFS.

As a friend, and as her family I am asking for anything that you can afford for Lucy during these challenging times for her and her family. She has the complete support of our family and her kids have been wonderful. But I would like to provide her with peace of mind and comfort that she will have money for food and medical expenses, so she can focus on her treatments, healing, and being present in her children life’s. She really has a long road to travel and some things are still undetermined.

¡Hola a todos! Mi nombre es Yaritza y espero conseguir ayuda y alivio para mi cuñada, Luzenit Hernández, en su lucha contra el cáncer de mama.

Lucy es madre de 3 hijos y madrastra de 2. Mi hermano Jeffrey y Lucy se casaron a finales de noviembre de 2021. Así que como ves, ¡una gran familia feliz! Desgraciadamente Lucy no puede trabajar durante el tratamiento y aún le queda camino por recorrer, y con un solo ingreso se les hace muy difícil con los gastos. A finales de diciembre perdieron su segundo vehículo y ahora se relevan con un solo vehículo para las citas médicas y para que mi hermano pueda ir a trabajar y tratar de mantener.

A Lucy le diagnosticaron recientemente un cáncer de mama agresivo en fase 2. Comenzó el tratamiento en diciembre porque tienen que reducir la masa para poder hacer una doble mastectomía. Ha sido una campeona en esto. Además, también le diagnosticaron el síndrome de Li-Fraumeni. Las personas con SLF tienen un alto riesgo de desarrollar múltiples tipos de cáncer a lo largo de su vida. Las mujeres tienen un mayor riesgo de desarrollar cáncer al menos una vez en su vida y hay alrededor de un 50% de posibilidades de desarrollar un segundo tipo de cáncer. Lucy pasó la Nochevieja en el hospital porque después de su segundo tratamiento tenía una hemorragia incontrolada. Hace poco le hicieron un procedimiento y le quitaron algunos pólipos del útero y también le hicieron una biopsia. La buena noticia es que no es cáncer. La mala noticia es que, de la nada, descubrieron que tiene endometriosis crónica y que necesitará una histerectomía en un futuro próximo, ya que también tiene fibromas. Una de las cosas que tiene el síndrome de Li-Fraumeni es que es hereditario y sus 3 hijos corren el riesgo de padecerlo si no se hacen las pruebas. Actualmente, están esperando la fecha de la prueba (que será en la próxima semana más o menos) para ver si alguno de sus 3 hijos también es positivo al gen TP53 que confirma el SLF.

Como amigo, y como su familia estoy pidiendo desde el fondo de nuestros corazones por cualquier cantidad que pueda permitirse para Lucy durante estos tiempos difíciles para ella y su familia. Ella tiene el apoyo total de nuestra familia y sus hijos han sido maravillosos. Pero me gustaría proporcionarle la tranquilidad y el consuelo de que tendrá dinero para la comida y los gastos médicos, para que pueda centrarse en sus tratamientos, la recuperación y estar presente en la vida de sus hijos. Realmente tiene un largo camino que recorrer y algunas cosas aún no están determinadas.
