I'm Nearing the Finish Line!
Greetings Community! As you know, I am in Midwifery School at National Midwifery Institute, working my way towards becoming a licensed Certified Professional Midwife. I’m currently in Phase 3, the last phase before being able to sit for the NARM. It’s been exciting and beautiful to see my life’s calling unfold before my eyes.
I live in Oakland, California where $100,000 is considered low income. As a full time student that is under employed, that puts my income levels at extremely low. I’m calling on my community to support this last year of Midwifery School. I’m asking for financial support to cover my living expenses. Being financially supported would allow me to focus on my academics and clinical experiences, without having to worry about living expenses.
About 2% of the country’s 15,000 licensed midwives are Black. That’s about 300 out of 15,000. Can you believe that?! I can! There have been a ton of obstacles that have tried to get in my way and stop me from finishing. Yet, I prevail.
One of my donors shares a few reasons why the community should support me:
- To support them in their Ancestral calling to birthwork
- To honor the Ancestral healing they can offer for BIPOC communities
- They have herbal wisdom and create medicine for their clients
- They Center LGBTIQA2S+ birthing people and their families
- Because more Black and Indigenous midwives are needed to support Black and Indigenous birthing people who face higher rates of maternal mortality
Thank you for your support!
