Johanna Minta Memorial Yearbook Fund
Donation protected
My name is Tom Stanfa, and I have been the yearbook advisor at Chapel Hill High School for the past 23 years. I established this fund to memorialize a former student who passed away. Over the last 17 years, I have raised money to honor the memory of one of my former students, Johanna Minta, who tragically died in a car accident not long after her graduation. Johanna was very generous with her time as she helped others in many ways. For example, she formed a club at the school that raised money to buy gifts for adolescent cancer patients at the UNC Hospital, donated her time at the Ronald McDonald house, and was just an all-around caring young woman!
To honor her memory, I established a fund to purchase yearbooks for deserving high school seniors who can't afford them. My fundraising efforts have enabled us to buy an average of 25 yearbooks every year since I started this fund.
My goal is to raise enough money to put a yearbook in the hands of 30 deserving students who otherwise would not buy one due to the cost constraints of paying for an $80.00 yearbook.
I greatly appreciate all the donations we received last year, as we could buy books for 30 fine young people as a final memento of their time in high school! Over the past 17 years, we have put yearbooks in the hands of over 480 graduating seniors at CHHS!
The lasting effects of the Covid 19 pandemic, the increasing likelihood of a recession, and the great need in our communities have caused me to rethink continuing this campaign in the face of this boundless need. However, this fundraiser is very near and dear to my heart, and I must continue to honor the promise I made to myself when I started this campaign 17 years ago.
I appreciate your past support and hope to count on your continued support.
