Charles Hall Medical Fund

Donation protected
My name is Cierra, and I’m reaching out for medical/financial help for my father Charles Hall. My dad has somewhat of some mystery medical issue that the medical bills are stacking up more then what they would typically.  Due to extra procedures,  extra body scans like: ultrasounds, CT scans, colon oscopy, upper endoscopy, many blood test, EUS, ERCP, Hepatoma, HCV etc. The main issue is cancer with the liver and the pancreas, all of this is very new to us and shocking. There is also a blockage in the tube that the pancreas and liver share, that then goes into his stomach. Doctors are VERY concerned and also do not understanding the connection with a lot of things. For example, his blood work has comes back several times basically normal but for how he looks and all the things going on it shouldn’t be so normal. He also went under a procedure recently and had a stint placed in the tube where the blockage is. Since the stint was put in, he should have been a lot better and the severe stomach pain should have gone away, but unfortunately he has gone down hill drastically since. So a lot of these things are causing extra scans, extra visit, extra ER visits etc etc. I know we defiantly have a long way to go in regards to what the obvious is, then even more to go in trying to tie it all together.

My father is the best man I have ever known. To a lot of other people he is also one of the best people they know. My dad is family to everyone. He is super energetic, super funny, positive, smart, and very giving. So many people look up to him for advice and guidence. He has always been a very hard worker to provide for his family all his life. People are drawn by my dad’s character and personality. My dad is someone you will never forget. When I was little I started thinking my dad was famous, because everywhere we went it seemed as though he knew everyone. Now that I’m older I still believe this, because he does know so many people.

The funds will be helping my father and mother with the stack of medical bills she already has and alot more that are coming their way. It will also help them get by on some personal living bills.  My father was the only one who worked and hasn’t worked since the stint procedure; when he did work he took a lot of time off due to the severe stomach pain. My dad worked for commision and bonuses. My father’s pride would not allow him to ask for anything from anyone. If I brought this idea to my dad his pride would get the best of him and he would tell me not to do it. But in times like this ,  think it is very very necessary. Thank you tremendously in advance for your help and support. If you are not able to help please send positive thoughts and prayers that my father gets better. My family thanks you in this hard time.

WHAT HAPPENED TO MY DAD MEDICALLY IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS

Before 6 months, my dad was completely fine energetic and working, he is 61 years old and he looked like he was in his early 50’s; glowing. Suddenly he started having severe pain in his stomach area. At first he thought he needed to change up his diet. That didn’t work. So he then went into the ER one night because the pain was to much to bare. They tested and scanned him, they saw inflammation of the pancreas ( pancreatitis ) therefore they had to starve his pancreas to get the inflammation down. He was transferred over to stay the night at the hospital so they can regulate his diet and pancreas. Next day he was sent home with a diet plan. Days later the pain was still there when the doctor said it should have been gone in a few days. So he then again went into the ER, blood work was done and a scan. Everything came back normal and the basically sent him on his way; maybe thinking a few more days of the diet and pain meds would help. He then went in the ER a 3rd time, they checked blood and scanned, everything came back normal of course. So they then gave him a referral to see a specialist to look at his pancreas closer. Made an appointment, and because it was a specialist we couldn’t get in right away, due to him being booked out. My dad finally got in, they were able to check him out more thourally and discovered a blockage in a tube the liver and pancreas share that then goes into the stomach, a spot on his liver (cancer?), and cirrhosis of the liver.  Follow up appointment with the specialist would confirm further things. He then was referred over to get a procedure to place a stint where the blockage is to help keep the flow in his body consistent and stop the pain. This procedure, they would go in through the mouth. Also they would get a sample of what the blockage is; tumor? cancer? The doctor said in a day or two my dad should be back to normal, up and moving around.

Again, before the procedure my dad looked as if nothing was really wrong with him from the outside, only except he lost a handful of weight and just had this horrible stomach pain, especially after eating.

He got the procedure done the Tuesday of Christmas week. The day after Christmas we then had to call the nurse and have my dad immediately admitted into the hospital in Tacoma. My dad was VERY weak, hunched over if he sat up, he mostly rested, couldn’t really eat, didn’t want to eat, and he was very delusional; not making any sense when he talked. Instead of being better and back to normal after the procedure my dad was dramatically worse. In the hospital they kept him hydrated, ran blood test, and scanned him. They said he had some bodily fluid built up. If there was a lot they would have to poke a hole in his stomach to drain it. Although there was not enough to drain, so they were able to give him some medicine that would do it for him. The hospital would release him once he was not delusional. We kept telling the hospital he was not well and he doesn’t usually look like this, we need to do some more things to figure this out. He was up and about before the procedure and now it’s like he is bed written and loosing drastic weight. They said we would have to wait for our follow up appointment that was coming up in 13 days with our specialist, to review what they discovered from the sample they took of the blockage from the procedure.

They sent us home. My mother tried to see if they could get my dad in earlier with the specialist but they had no openings. We had to wait the days out. we had ti make sure my dad got up 3 times a day to feed him and take all his medicine. In the mean time his stomach still really hurt him badly; he had pain meds, vomit meds etc to help along the way. He kept losing weight drastically; only able to eat small amounts of food. He then went to see his specialist and it was confirmed he had pancreas cancer and liver cancer. The specialist then sent a urgant referral to a cancer doctor (oncologist) and a hospital in Seattle to see my dad ASAP because he was NOT looking good at all. They were to call us either that day (Friday) or the following Monday, the new plan was to see the cancer doctor and sometime the following week go to a specialty hospital in Seattle for further treatment. That following Monday we called the oncologist to see when we can get him in. They were still getting all of my dad’s information together and will call us back. That day while still waiting for a call back my mom ended up calling the ambulance to come pick up my dad and take him to the closest ER. We just knew he wasn’t doing good because at this point my dad was not holding down food for a day or two, and we were concerned that he could get dehydrated; which is really not good in his weak state. My mom called the ambulance, ended up arguing with the people who came in the ambulance because they said they could not take him because his heart sounded fine and blood pressure was fine etc. My mom demanded they take him; my dad was not fine and could barely even walk; obviously he was not well at all. While my mom was on her way to the hospital she got a call in regards to my dad’s appointments with the Oncologist and the hospital in Seattle. They said to bring him Tuesday at 11. While my dad was in the ER that night they did blood work, hydrated him, and gave him some different vomit meds to hold him over for the next day.

It has gotten very frustrated that the medical staff is not seeing what we are seeing. We have to tell everyone, this is not what he looks and acts like typically. This is all new within the past few months. It’s really hard to have people not seem to take it seriously; as if he been looking like this for years.

My dad then went into the hospital. He had two appointments with two different doctors. After the second appointment we were told they are going to admit him into the hospital just give them a moment. It took alot longer then a moment BUT they got him in a room. The staff and doctors are taking us serious and looking at my dad very concerned; it’s very relieving to have someone finally see what we see! The new plan is to redo the stint; take the plastic one out and put a metal one in. Numb hhe nerves surrounding the blockage; in hopes to take the stomach pain away. Take another sample of the blockage, because apparently the first sample and result DIDN’T work! We are very afraid, obviously, of my dad getting the stint procedure again because this is what made his physical and mental health worse. He has now gotten the second procedure and we are waiting for the next steps.

Again, thank you in advance for any help that you can give. Please keep the prayers and positive thoughts for my father.
