Help Matt get his new service dog!!
Donation protected
Matt Collins is a 6th grade English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher at the Winter Hill Community Innovation School in Somerville, MA where he is respected by both his students and colleagues alike. Matt was born with Cerebral Palsy and got his first service dog, Amber the Wonderdog, 9 years ago. Together, they made everything possible! With Amber's assistance, Matt was able to maintain his passion for teaching by having Amber help him with his balance issues due to his disability and therefore demonstrate to his students that all obstacles can be overcome with assistance.
Amber passed away unexpectedly in early December leaving Matt without Amber's support, guidance and constant companionship. Matt has recently applied to NEADS, which is Dogs for the Deaf and Disabled Americans, in Princeton, MA for another service dog. NEADS is currently searching for the perfect match for Matt and his needs once again. The cost for a NEADS service dog is over $25,000 but they ask their clients to raise a minimum of $9500. These costs raised by a client cover the training and initial care expenses.
Please consider donating to Matt's cause so that he can continue to live and work independently in and out of the classroom.
