K1 Series A Malaysia - 2025

Hi everyone,

My name is Natacha Fernandes, I am 21 years old, and I am a Karate athlete, proudly representing Portugal’s National Team. Since I started practicing Karate at the age of 3, my passion for this sport has only grown stronger.

At 14, I had the honor of joining the National Team, and just a year later, I won my first medal in a European Championship, marking the beginning of a journey that has since become my life’s purpose.

Over the past two years, I’ve achieved some of the biggest accomplishments of my career, including reaching the top position in the Under-21 world rankings in 2024. Even with limited financial resources, my achievements reflect my dedication to Karate and my potential to reach even greater heights. I am immensely grateful for the experiences and milestones I have attained, including:

- European Championships: Three medals (2019, 2022, 2023)

- World Combat Games: Medalist in 2023 (the only Portuguese athlete in my discipline to participate)

- Under-21 World Circuit: Four medals (2023 and 2024)

- European University Championships: Two-time champion (2023, 2024)

-World Team Championships: Vice-World Champion along side my team

K1 Premier Leagues, like these upcoming competitions, are high-level events within the world circuit, bringing together the top 32 athletes from around the globe. Every point earned in these competitions is crucial for climbing the rankings, bringing me closer to qualification for European and World Championships and, in the future, prestigious multisport events like the European Games and the World Games. Without participating in these events, I miss the chance to earn points, which impacts my progress in the rankings and my chances to represent Portugal at larger competitions.

In short, these competitions are much more than isolated evens: they are opportunities to better position myself internationally, strengthen my preparation for the challenges ahead, and continue pursuing my dream of reaching the highest level in Karate while inspiring other young athletes.
