A word from Kirsten:
On August 28th 2019 I was diagnosed with cancer. Hodgkin Lymphoma. A familiar disease in my life. About 30 years ago, my mom received the same diagnosis. She was able to beat the lymphoma and be in remission long enough to bring me into this world, but treatment 30 years ago was not what it is today. As was common back then, the treatment used to treat the Hodgkin Lymphoma caused a secondary cancer that eventually stole her life. I'm grateful that in the last 30 years science and technology has advanced enough to develop safer and more effective treatments. Today, as cancer goes, Hodgkin Lymphoma is one of the better ones to have; it is now curable at any stage. I'm grateful that I'm early stage 2, so my chances of healing and moving on with my life are about 90%. Life is unpredictable. Life is hard. But having an amazing and supportive family, along with the best friends anyone could possibly ask for makes it all just a little easier. For them I am most grateful. #letthebattlebegin #fuckcancer
Kirsten is just beginning another exciting, new journey at the University of Pennsylvania - School of Medicine as a Manufacturing Associate. She is working full time and crushing it every single day. With this diagnosis comes some financial hardship even with the best insurance. Nobody fighting the "Big C" should ever have to worry about finances. The only worry is to fight the good fight. Please help us better support this incredible human being and take some stress off her plate.
