K EYE LA -- Manifest the Music Video

Hello!

I am Kaïla, a Canadian singer songwriter currently living in Vancouver, BC. I left my home, city of Montreal, QC in 2020 on a quest to heal and curate my life. I got in my SUV with a small mattress and propane stove in the trunk and hit the road. I didn’t know where I was going, what to expect or if I was coming back. The mountains and ocean were calling me most so I drove westward towards British Columbia. (You can watch my adventure here  )

It’s been two years since my road trip and so much has changed. I now live in Vancouver amongst an awesome community of creative and open minded people, who inspire me to take my dreams seriously.

This year I have undertaken recording and releasing an EP. I have the opportunity to make a music video for one of the songs that will be released — I Manifest the Vision, which this fundraiser is dedicated to. It’s a song that hits on themes of home, personal power, natural cycles, and catharsis.

About the Song

I Manifest the Vision is a song about self-empowerment, grounding, and bringing awareness to the natural cycles surrounding us. I wrote this song in the summer of 2021 when I was heavily involved in my personal witchcraft journey. I was experiencing and seeing so many of my spells/visions come to life before my eyes. I learned how to hold a vision in my mind’s eye and bring it down into the physical reality by doing actionable work. I share this song with the intention to empower others to ground down and pursue their visions to fruition. It’s worth it.

“I manifest the vision, that’s the way I've been living.
There are so many new lives around that i could be living in.
But I've got my two feet in the ground; plant my seeds and grow here.
By the cycles of the moonlight, I manifest the vision.”

 Music Video Description

I Manifest The Vision will be filmed in the lush Pacific Northwest forest, on the unseeded land of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation). The video will begin and end in the light of day. However, the magic happens by the fire of a long night. Kaïla will be joined by 4 ethereal beings dressed in flowing white clothing. They communicate to her through movement and dance. The Ethereal 4 help Kaïla harness other worldly energy to manifest her vision. Kaïla will be playing her song with a few other musicians by a small fire, but as the night evolves the crowd grows much larger. Eventually Kaïla emerges into another dimension where only she, the ethereal 4, and the fire exist. Once the moon completes its full cycle, her ritual is complete, and Kaïla awakens at dawn alone in a bed of ashes.

The Film Crew/Team

Director/DOP

Grace Loeppky is the Director & Director of Photography for this project. She approached Kaïla to collaborate in the summer of 2021 at a music festival where she was blown away by Kaïla’s beautiful voice and songwriting talents.

Grace moved from Halifax to Vancouver in 2016 after graduating from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University. She came West to work in Vancouver’s busy film industry and to enjoy the active outdoor culture of the West Coast. Grace has shot several short queer narratives, high energy music videos, and environmental documentaries. Her background is in lighting and dolly gripping, which has given her invaluable skills to support her work as a Director of Photography.

The Ethereal 4 — Dancers

The Ethereal 4 are spirit dancers and they are Kaïla’s guides through the energetic realm. Together they help Kaïla harness her inner powers and navigate other dimensions.
