I want to tell you a story about my Mom, Angela Anderson.

On July 16th, 2025- My mother, Angela was cycling along the 35th Ave & 30th Street bike path corridor in Vernon BC, like she did most days. When a vehicle made a quick turn, striking her. (As reported by Castanet, see article link below).

She was run over by a truck equipped with a cattle guard, loaded with a camper trailer..My mom was pulled from underneath the vehicle by some amazing community members, alongside first responders. She had several broken bones and a severed femoral artery in her right leg. If it was not for their quick actions she would not be here today. Our family cannot thank those who responded enough!! The paramedics, civilians, rcmp & hospital staff- Our family is Forever grateful to you!

She was admitted to the ICU at Kelowna General Hospital on July 16th, where she remains today -September 17th. (2 Months later). Angela has undergone numerous surgeries in attempt to save her right leg, which was degloved upon impact. Incase you don’t know what that means ( I didn’t prior to this). It’s when the skin & tissue, is forcibly torn away from the muscles and or bone. “Like taking off a glove”. Gruesome, I know…

She has received a rod in place of her femur and a plate in lieu of her shin. And we are told a full knee replacement will be needed at a later date. The amazing team of plastic surgeons, orthopaedic surgeons and ICU/ Trauma nurses that aided in her care did a great job. But unfortunately, the wound was too severe. She has now lost majority of muscle & tissue on her right thigh (the entirety of her hamstring) in the surgical/healing process.

Last week she finally was able to proceed with the skin grafting, but she’s not out of the woods yet. This procedure is extremely painful as many of you know. And carries the risk of infection.

But she’s a Fighter. And she’s been so strong throughout this horrific ordeal.
Her road to Recovery will be a very long one. But we are putting our faith and trust in the Lord that she will overcome this. Her smile is still lighting up rooms, even if it’s just her hospital room for now.

It has been a long two months but we are very much looking forward to her release, the comfort of home and the next steps in her recovery journey.

We are now reaching out to our community, to our friends & our family for support. Reality is setting in…The medical expenses are quickly adding up and we’re only just beginning.

This is my first Go Fund Me and I pray that it’s my last... So if you’re reading this and feel like you’re in a position to help, we thank you for any assistance you’re able to provide!
