Hi, my name is Leah Handley and I am a friend of Jordan.
AKA Rowdy Chowdy Jordan, or Helen Jordan.
You may know her from her many years of volunteering at the Homer food Pantry (11 yrs), or the Lions’ Club (9 yrs), or the Hospital Auxiliary (8 yrs), or for her walking around town giving out doggie treats as she passed by any furry, 4 legged friends!
You may recognize her by her tie dyed clothing, or the colorful variety of head coverings, or her shaved head, or the colorful testament of her life’s significant memories artistically emblazoned on her arms, or by her beautiful, resonant, whistling when glad or during the worship service of many of the local churches or her free-style ministry of/for the Holy Trinity.
However you know her, this is about, and for, her.
Born in Illinois, she spent time in Texas, Louisiana, and Florida before heading to Alaska in 2006. After roughing it up north exploring Alaska for 3 years, she finally landed in Homer on May 17, 2009. She made quite a splash when she arrived.
Jordan has a vivacity and almost larger than life love for her Savior, Jesus Christ. Whether you agree with her or not, you will hear part, at least, of her testimony of Christ’s love and new life in Him as she shares the meaning of the newest tattoo!
In 2005 she was diagnosed with having a brain tumor. (WOW! Who knew she was living with that?!) However, it wasn’t until April 2022 that she had that tumor removed. Tumor out, staphylococcus in.
From April 20, 2022 to October 6, 2022 she underwent 6 brain operations, had 7 seizures, and had 2 strokes-all on the right side of her brain. She was left with permanent brain damage, blindness on the left side, partial paralysis, and a partial skull replacement piece (which clearly has the word UP written on it!), and was placed on hospice palliative care. Some of her symptoms have improved since 2022.
Praise the Lord, she has rallied and fought to keep her independence and currently is still living independently. Jordan believes in having a life of Thanks Living! This positive attitude is both beautiful and uplifting to those around her.
In recent weeks, however, she has experience some concerning episodes which have ended in the E.R. These episodes have brought her to the point of looking towards her future. She wishes to be responsible and take care of everything now that she can envision will become a need/issue later. She has not wanted to be a burden while she is alive nor does she want to have her estate become a burden when she passes. She has no timeframe reference for when these END OF LIFE needs will arise. She only wishes to have everything taken care of so that she has peace of mind and that those responsible parties will have the burden eased by her pre-planning. Jordan is soooo grateful to those who will make this possible.
This GO GUND ME ACCT for Jordan has a goal of $5,500.00
$2,000.00 Peninsula Memorial Chapels pre-paid Cremation services
$1,000.00 Air tickets & car rental for lifetime best friend to come from Texas for a visit NOW rather than a memorial LATER
