Support Mike's Recovery Journey

Story

Hi! I'm Rachael Tachco and local friends of our Phish and all-around good buddies Mike and Karen Dahl. They need our collective financial support! Mike has been battling spinal issues and went in for spinal cord surgery in early May. What everyone was hoping to be "routine" spinal surgery has turned into something way more complicated. Here's Mike's most recent update: "It's been three weeks since my surgery. I'm still in the ICU step-down unit. First and foremost, I want to thank my beautiful bride, Taylor Dahl, for spending countless hours by my side and giving me the comfort I need. I also want to thank Matt Forman for helping me with my FMLA and everything else he does, especially the dad jokes. I also want to thank everyone that has stopped by or reached out. When I was coming to from my surgery, it became apparent I had no feeling nor could move anything below my chest. That's when my blood pressure dropped as well. I was rushed back into surgery where they found a blood clot that was compressing my spinal cord in the T3-T6 area of my spine. They put in some drains and did what they could do. I still had no movement or feeling. The next morning, my big toe on my right foot showed some movement. Over the next couple of days, my right leg continued to show improvement. My left leg, not so much. I do have some movement. I would say less than five percent. This is when a new issue started. I started having an ileus blockage (forgive me for my spelling). This quickly took over as the main issue. They have been trying to address it without a lot of success. I still can't eat or drink. They can't really address my spinal cord injury until the blockage is manageable. Once I do get moved to the spinal cord rehab center, they will be able to see the extent of the damage. It most likely will be months compared to weeks. Every day is a struggle on many different fronts. So, taking it one day at a time..." Let's rally for Mike and Karen and help ease their financial burdens as Mike focuses on healing. Every little bit will help our sunshine friends. If you are unable to contribute financially (I know it's a struggle right now), could you share this fundraiser to get to a wider audience? Thank you all for shining back the love and care Mike and Karen share with the world <3 <3 <3
