Meet my son, Lucas. He is extremely intelligent, creative, funny, loving and lovable boy who enjoys cats, Lego’s and Minecraft. But he suffers greatly and daily.
Lucas has the following diagnoses; Bipolar Disorder, Asperger’s Syndrome, and Sensory Processing Disorder. He is a neurological mess and cannot function with life’s daily struggles. Lucas has received numerous treatments to help manage these conditions for 6 years. However, in the last two and half years he has been hospitalized 6 times. He displays signs of extreme depression, anger and bouts of violence. This is a sickness there is currently no remedy for.
Every parent aches of helplessness when their child is sick, we feel that way every day. School tells me they can’t handle him. The areas doctors and specialists don’t know how to help him. They try to convince me, this is as good as it gets. I disagree. I will not stop until Lucas’ quality of life is significantly better.
In Texas, there is a facility that specializes in working with children just like Lucas and has had astonishing, life changing results. We realize that despite having insurance, we will incur serious expenses part of which will be relocating to Texas for an undetermined amount of time, and by seeking this treatment. My wish is for that to be a non-factor.
We are simply asking for a small donation to start us on the right path to Lucas’ mental stability and to give him a chance to be a contributing member of society!
