Help Kyllie Fight Breast Cancer
Donation protected
For those of you who don't know me, my name is Erwin and I was blessed to marry my beautiful wife Kyllie a little over three years ago. We have an energetic 14-month-old son together, who definitely keeps us on our toes but brings so much fun, love, and positivity to our lives.
A couple of weeks ago, just before Ky's 29th birthday, she found a lump in her breast, which she thought was a clogged milk duct. Having struggled with this before, she used all the home remedies she could to try to get rid of it herself. She used breast massagers, hand expressions, warm showers, etc.-- but nothing seemed to help much. A little while after, she noticed another lump forming beneath her underarm, which at this point started to become alarming. We decided it was best to get it checked, more for precautionary measures than anything else, just to make sure it was the clocked duct as we thought. Never did we expect the journey we were about to take on.
After waiting what seemed like an eternity, the results from her biopsy finally came in. I received a text from Ky on my way home from work one day with a screenshot of the results, and my stomach immediately dropped. I wasn't sure what I was reading, but I saw the word carcinoma and knew it couldn't be good. That day, on June 5th, the doctors diagnosed Ky with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. It is a form of Breast Cancer that attacks her breast tissue and lines the milk ducts with cancerous cells. While they said it is a common form of Breast Cancer, Ky's has decided to spread to her lymph nodes making it a bit more serious.
Since finding out, our world has completely flipped upside down. Ky is staying strong for our family, like she always has, and is ready to fight this head on. She starts her first round of chemotherapy at the end of June and will complete 6 rounds of it through October. Sometimes I find myself questioning and asking God why this has to happen to her of all people, but then I look over and see Ky pressing into her faith and fighting for her family. I'm reminded that God gives his toughest battles to his strongest warriors and I know He will carry us through this.
I can't express how grateful we are for your support, love, and prayers as we navigate through this journey together. Our Ohana feels so blessed to be surrounded by the best community, family and friends. We love you all!
-Erwin
The funds given here will be used to support Kyllie and the Pastrana Ohana at this time. Before the diagnosis, Kyllie was starting her journey as a caregiver, watching multiple kids throughout the week. Erwin held two jobs, working one throughout the day and the second at night, to provide for his family. Since then, Ky has sadly had to put her dreams on pause to focus on her health, meaning she will be out of a job for the time being. Meanwhile, Erwin has had to cut down on hours to help chauffeur, care for, support and hold down the fort at home for both Kyllie and Kingston. Any donation, big or small, is so so appreciated and will be used to help support Kyllie's treatments, her road to recovery, and the family throughout this journey. Please continue to keep them in your prayers, as we know that our God is a God who heals and provides. Ky is a fighter and we know she will get through this!
The family has kindly asked for privacy at this time while they process and adjust to this new season of life.
