Hi, my name is Gaz and on the 12th of April 2026 I’ll be running the Paris Marathon for Alcohol Change UK!!! The same charity I proudly supported last year.

A few years ago, alcohol played a much bigger role in my life than I ever intended. What started as something social slowly became something I relied on, and over time it affected my mental health, my confidence, and how I showed up for myself and the people around me. I hit a dramatic “rock bottom”, but I reached a point where I knew something had to change.

Choosing sobriety was one of the hardest and best decisions I’ve ever made. I’m now approaching two years alcohol-free, and life on the other side looks completely different. I’m clearer, stronger, more present, and more proud of myself than I’ve been in a long time.

Running has become a huge part of that journey. Training for and completing the Paris Marathon last year was proof to me that change is possible, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Crossing that finish line wasn’t just about the miles; it was about reclaiming control and proving that I could do hard things without alcohol.

That’s why I’m doing it all again.

Alcohol Change UK does vital work providing education, research, and support around alcohol harm, helping people make informed choices and supporting those who want to change their relationship with drinking. This cause is deeply personal to me, and every donation helps fund work that genuinely changes lives.

I have a minimum fundraising target of £1100, and I’d be incredibly grateful for any support whether that’s a donation, a share, or a few words of encouragement during training.
