POPE AND FIORITO FAMILY SUPPORT
This sad and sensitive post is primarily intended for friends and relatives of my very dear friend, Kim Pope. Many of you already know, and many may not, that Kim was diagnosed with an advanced form of rectal cancer last August. She was already at stage 4 and the cancer had metastasized to her liver. Until last weekend, Kim was receiving hospice care at home, but her needs became more advanced. Per her wishes that were expressed long ago and also in August, Kim was admitted to a hospice facility where trained professionals care for her needs around the clock.
As far as I know, Kim is still in transition but it doesn't appear that she will be with us much longer. Both Jesse (25 yo) and Franny (almost 17 yo) have been, and still are going through unimaginable trauma in this situation. Losing a parent at any age is devastating, but losing their mother at their age cuts deep. Remaining family members have a nearly non-existent presence in Jesse's and Franny's lives. Basically, these siblings are on their own. Jesse works full time and Franny is a straight A student in her junior year of high school.
Kim intended to get names and funds transferred before she became too ill, but it didn't happen. Meanwhile expenses are accumulating along with every day needs. I see Jesse and Franny needing approximately $2500 over the next 2-3 months. If we can at least place $800-1000 into the GFM account in the next 2 weeks, they can cover rent, electricity, food, transportation and other necessities.
Please know that this family does not have cable, internet (except for their phones), or a car. They have little furniture and not much food. I uncomfortably share this information so that you can thoroughly understand the Pope and Fiorito family needs.
Thank you and God bless.
