Jynxx's vet bills
Donation protected
On 8/25/19, my cat Jynxx had a visit to the animal hospital with a partial urinary blockage which ran me a bit over $700. On 9/16/19, Jynxx developed a full urinary blockage, requiring an expected two nights at the animal hospital, anesthesia, meds, catheter, blockage removal, time to heal to make sure the blockage clears, etc. I was told this will be $3,000 when all is said and done. He is currently at the animal hospital (IVG in Woburn). UPDATE 9/21: The final total came out to be just under $6,000 and a little above that when including his after care supplies and follow-up appointment. This is a relief compared to the $9,000 estimate but is still a lot of money. Thank you to everyone who has donated/is donating, your money is allowing me to take good care of Jynxx now that he's home and be able to take him in to be seen right away if heaven forbid anything abnormal starts to happen (so far so good).
UPDATE 9/17: Jynxx was unblocked but his urine has remained bloodier than it should be. An ultrasound showed small stones that he wouldn't be able to pass without a surgical opening of his urethra (perineal urethrostomy) as well as a stone measuring about 1cm in diameter, which he wouldn't be able to pass with the urethra surgery alone. He needs to have his abdomen opened to remove the stones and then the urethra surgery to prevent future full blockages. The abdominal part of this is actually only $700. The surgery is $3,500-$5,000 (on top of the $3,000 for the initial unblocking and overnight stays, etc). I've increased the goal for this campaign to $5,000 even though that's less than what the total cost will be because I'm uncomfortable asking for more. He goes in for surgery Wednesday 9/18. He'll be staying there until most likely Friday or Saturday depending on how things go.
I don't like having to do this, but Jynxx is family. My financial situation is tight. Some people have suggested it would be better if I put him to sleep. I don't think that my financial hardship should end the life of an animal with a medical condition it can receive care for. Money donated to this fundraiser would be put towards Jynxx's vet bills.
I have multiple jobs and a roommate but still live paycheck to paycheck. I'm embarrassed to ask for financial assistance but when it comes to my cat, I'm not going to put him to sleep when something can be done to help him.
He turned 10 years old on 9/9/19. He's been my sidekick since November 2009. He can be a jerk, but he's my jerk. I appreciate any help to put towards Jynxx's vet bills. Thank you.
