Hello everyone, I am starting this fundraiser to help John Thomas pay for his medical bills. John was brutally assaulted on the evening of 10/14 after attending a hockey game in downtown Boise. This is a recount of what happened that evening from a friend of John who was with him during the event, “This evening 10/14 myself and a few friends attended the Idaho Steelheads game. After the game we went and had a drink at a near by bar. We left the bar right around midnight and started walking back to our car. When we hit Park Center and Capitol right near the Grove Hotel lobby a group of about 10-15 young adults from the ages 15-18 (I’m just guessing age based of looks) started acting very aggressive towards us for no reason. We all told them we didn’t want any trouble and that we were all adults so we didn’t want to get into any fights with kids. They then proceeded to sucker punch my friend from behind multiple times. We told them to leave us alone repeatedly but they kept following us. They then started to surround my other friend who had a stroke a few years ago so half of his body is handicapped. After seeing this I jumped in the middle and pushed away one of the kids to try to help my friend. However, immediately after doing this a member of their group snuck up behind my disabled friend and sucker punched him from behind. This cause my friend to go unconscious for about a minute, and immediately after all of the kids ran off through the grove plaza. My friend was rushed to the hospital, and he has 2 broken teeth as well as a broken jaw.” The injuries sustained from the assault include cuts and bruisers all over his head and body, 2 broken teeth, and a broken jaw. John was rushed to the hospital immediately after the incident in an ambulance and he will need jaw surgery in the coming days. These medical expenses will be extremely expensive especially without medical insurance. This is why we are asking for a donation of any amount to help John cover his medical expenses and anything else he needs help with through this tough time. Any donation is extremely appreciated.
