"Atara the nomad crosses the Ottawa River and travels north to safety, but in a twisted new world of ancient Greek warriors, vicious Iroquois horsemen, and all manner of nightmare creatures, can she even survive?"
It was 2010 when I first starting having day dreams about a woman with jet black hair crying in a fierce rain, looking down a cliff high above a lake and wanting to jump. "Everyone I know is dead", she said. A story started to develop around that moment, what brought her there and what or who would turn here away from a watery grave? The voices of the characters drew me to start seriously writing things down in 2019, and in 2023 I had a first draft complete.
Ashes of the Wake is a post-apocalyptic dark fantasy work of fiction. It explores a number of my own experiences, real places from my childhood, and some of the horrors of Canadian history. At 160k words and approximately 500 pages, it needs a lot of editing and reworking, and that is where you come in. I need to hire a professional editor, I have been through the manuscript several times, but I need some fresh eyes and a professional to help me cut things down and add details to make it marketable. A picture is worth a thousand words, (probably more), A few illustrations early on can give the reader a sense of the tone and style of the world. Lastly and most importantly, a cover illustration is the most important and first step. With a good cover and no other help I could potentially self publish.
Cost Break Down:
