Gordon Family

Larry Dean Gordon a well known and loved member of South Phoenix, loving father, husband, grandpa and friend to all who knew him, was tragically taken from this world to soon. An unexpected horrific house fire on Wednesday October 14,2020 claimed Larry’s life and the place that he and his beloved wife Deanna called home. Larry was one of the original members that started the Desert Rat Push Trucks at Manzanita Speedway.  That team evolved into the DRP Safety Team with his guidance and help.  Larry’s dedication to the racers and their safety is unparalleled. He provided safety for dirt tracks throughout the state; Manzanita Speedway, Canyon Speedway Park, Thunder Raceway-Show Low, Central Arizona Raceway-Casa Grande, Cocopah Speedway-Yuma, and USA Raceway-Tucson. He was also lead safety at Speedworld Raceway Park, Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park with the Arizona Short Course Championship Series, and the Lucas Oil Off Road Regional Racing Series-Arizona. Larry is survived by his wife Deanna, his children Kris, Larry Wayne, Victor, Jamie, and grandchildren Sofia and a new one on the way, along with his mom Dena Scofield and step mom Phyllis Gordon, brother Roy and Bo, and sisters Marla and Daya. After losing their first home in 2002, The Gordons relocated to their current home in South Phoenix. However, this new home was not protected with any sort of insurance or security. This has left a large burden on the Gordon Family specifically his wife Deanna who lost everything in this fire. Deanna as Larry is also an active member of the community. During the week, Deanna is 2nd grade teacher at Country Gardens Charter School, this is the same school all of the Gordon children attended. On the weekend you can often find her cooking food for someone or helping out a neighbor in need. Anyone who knew the Gordon Family knew that “NO” was not part of their vocabulary. These people would literally give anyone the shirt off their back. As a community I am asking that we come together and help this wonderful family out during this tragic time. Please keep Deanna, Larry Wayne, Victor, Jamie, Amanda, Kris and the rest of the family in your prayers Keep all those racers safe Larry until the rest of the team gets there! All funds raised will go directly to deanna for all expenses incurred.
