My disease is called Primary Immune Defiency Disease. What this means is that I basically do not have an immune system to keep me healthy. Even the slightest cold could be a threat to my life. Unfortunately, here in Las Vegas, the health system is so unaware and unwilling to help. I am constantly streamed to new doctors to try and figure out how I can have a better way of life. To my family and friends, you all know that my biggest wish is to just be a Mother to my daughter. At this point, I've been dealing with this for almost three years only to acquire additional autoimmune diseases. Possibly Lupus ( hard to diagnose, but my home health nurses are convinced that I definitely have it), I also have COPD, Paradoxical Vocal Cord Dysfunction, and several more. The only thing that has kept my head barely above water were my IVIG treatments. Those treatments essentially give me an immune system so I can take care of my baby about 7-10 days of the month when I'm not either in the hospital or so sick I literally can not leave my bed. About six months ago Medicare pulled that life saving procedure. It is $9000.00 a month just for that one medication. As the months go by, my health continues to deteriorate because I have yet to receive the IVIG. For the Vocal Cord Dysfunction, my second life saving medication, IV Benadrl, was also pulled by Medicare. It is $900.00 per month. I have been in and out of the hospital every month since 2011. I do have a doctor at UCLA that treats me for the vocal cord dysfunction. However, to get there and back in my condition is almost impossible. Last year I was in the ICU and Sunrise Hospital for several months and I was given a tracheotomy. My doctor at UCLA is the one that diagnosed and treated my tracheotomy. I truly just want to live a full life with my daughter and my family. The medical bills are mounting and I am in need of the IVIG and Benadryl immediately. Each of my doctors have told me that I must get treated at UCLA if I want any quality of life and any chance of managing all of my conditions. I am so truly blessed to have such a wonderful family, especially my Mom, Dad and Uncle, that pick up the pieces for my daughter and I. Now, I'm at a crossroads because I can not afford my medications and/or my doctors visits. I am praying that with the help of others, I will be able to get the treatment I need and that I can afford to bring my Mom and daughter with me when I go to UCLA.
