As I was watching the story unfold about COVID-19 I began to worry about our preparedness for this virus and how we will protect ourselves and our healthcare workers on the front lines.   Soon it became clear that there were going to be supply chain issues but it seemed like there was nothing I could personally do about this as it is a complex problem.  

Shortly after that one of my friends asked me if I could 3d print some PPE for his wife who is an infectious disease doctor at a VA clinic.  He said they were running dangerously low on their current disposable supply and sent me an open source design  I could use.


So I've set off to make as many of these face shields as I can to help protect the people that are helping us through this pandemic.  I've dedicated my three 3d printers full time to making these shields but I need your help. 

I've already dedicated my entire supply of plastic, time, and electricity cost to the cause but I need your help to:

* Acquire additional raw materials
    * Transparency sheets. ($15 for 100)
    * Roles of filament for the printers ($20 for 1kg/2.2lbs)
    * Rubber bands ($6 for 1/2 lb bag)

* Acquire additional hardware to increase my overall output
    * I want to target 3 additional printers which would increase my daily output by by about 20 shields a day.   

Each roll of filament  will produce about 60 of these shields.  

I know a lot of people are suffering financially from this but if you have the ability to help even just a little you can make a difference in a healthcare workers daily life.
