After Losing Both Our Parents, We Need Help Holding Onto Their Home
Story:
Hi, my name is David Allen, and I never imagined I’d be writing something like this.
In the past year, our family has faced unimaginable loss. We first lost our mom, Susan — the heart of our family — and just eight months later, we lost our dad, James. Losing them both so close together has been devastating. We’re still trying to process it all while holding onto the pieces of the life they built together.
One of those pieces is their home.
James and Susan called this house home for the last 25 years. It’s where they welcomed friends and family, celebrated birthdays, holidays, and ordinary days that turned into lasting memories. This home wasn’t just four walls — it was their safe place, their legacy, and a place full of love.
Since their passing, we’ve been doing our best to take care of the home as we go through the process of selling it. But the financial weight has become too heavy to carry alone. The utilities, maintenance, and estate-related expenses are more than we can manage right now — especially while grieving and trying to sort through all the practical aspects of loss.
We’re setting up this GoFundMe to ask for help covering these ongoing costs. Every donation — no matter the amount — will help us stay on top of things until the home sells. More importantly, it will give us the space to grieve without the constant stress of financial strain.
We want to honor James and Susan the best way we can — by taking care of what they spent their lives building.
If you’re able to contribute, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. And if you can’t, simply sharing this means more than you know.
With love and gratitude, David, Scott, Cindy and Donna.
