update.. 2/13/24
A few weeks ago we found out that after only a few months of remission Duke’s cancer has returned and unfortunately, this time it is stage 4. He has started a very aggressive treatment plan in hopes to slow its rapid growth. This treatment now requires travel to a hospital an hour a way, several times a week. His body and spirit is tired but he is working hard to surrender the process to fight this cancer. We appreciate all of your love and support.
Sometimes life throws curve balls and sometimes they seem to come out of nowhere and they come fast. A couple of weeks ago Duke got the diagnosis of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. The last couple of weeks have brought rapid changes in both his health and how he spends his days. If you know him, you know that sitting still and resting is not his favorite way to spend his days. He would much rather be in his truck working or on the golf course. However, we know that the next 6 months will change that significantly. Steve will start a very aggressive chemo treatment plan this week that will last for the next 6 months.
It is my hope along with my brother (Steven Jr.) and sister (Lauren) that he will be able to rest and recover without the concern of all the unexpected financial burdens that a cancer diagnosis brings. His treatments will greatly effect the amount of days that he will be able to work, placing an extra layer of stress and worry. It is our hope that Mom (Maggie) will be able to take off of work to care for him without the concern of her lost wages. We would so appreciate any love offering that you can send their way.
We will hold on to the hope that Duke will fully recover and will be able to celebrate with a cold one on the golf course and dance with his family again! Until then, we appreciate you keeping our family in your prayers as Duke walks thorough these tough days.
