Hi everyone,
This is our sweet kitten, Nova. She is almost 5 months old and has already filled our home even more with so much love.
Recently, we noticed Nova’s tiny body starting to change. Her stomach became very enlarged compared to the rest of her small frame. She began losing weight, had constant diarrhea, and even blood in her stool. Despite frequent vet visits, tests, and medications, things only seemed to get worse — until the heartbreaking diagnosis came: FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis). Without treatment, FIP is fatal.
Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) is a serious, progressive disease in cats caused by a mutation of the feline coronavirus (FCoV). While many cats may carry the benign form of FCoV without ever becoming ill, in rare cases the virus mutates inside the body, triggering an abnormal immune response. This mutation leads to widespread inflammation in tissues and organs, most commonly in the abdomen, kidneys, liver, brain, and eyes.
There is hope — but it comes at a cost. There are life saving medications available that have given many cats a chance to recover and go on to live long, healthy lives. Unfortunately, the treatment is quite expensive and can last several months.
We brought Nova home a few months ago as a friend for our cat Caufield. Before Nova, Caufield struggled — he would bite guests, act out, and seemed so lonely. But when Nova came into our lives, everything changed. She brought peace to our home, softened Caufield’s rough edges, and filled our family with even more love. The two of them became inseparable.
As a young family with a new baby and myself being on maternity leave, we are doing everything we can to cover her care, but we cannot do it alone. That’s why we are reaching out for help. Every contribution, no matter how small, will go directly toward:
* Nova’s treatment and medication that must be given daily.
* Vet visits, blood work and monitoring.
* Supportive care during recovery.
Even the smallest donation will help us fight for Nova’s life. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing her story.
Nova has already changed our lives so much — she has helped Caufield, brought peace into our home, and has been a loving companion through this special (and at times difficult) first year. We can’t imagine our family without her.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us give Nova a chance at life.
