- A

For those who don't already know, Finneas is not only an amazing cat; he is Ashlynn's certified emotional support animal. He is the most chill, friendly, snuggly cat out there. We came home from Thanksgiving to find him covered in blood. I scooped him up and took him to the ER. They said he might have crystals, but it wasn’t blocked, so we went home. The following day, he had worsened, so we took him back in. He was now totally blocked.
The vet doesn’t have a payment plan option, so I used my Christmas fund and paid the $2,000 to have this done. I don’t even care about missing Christmas this year, we just want to save our boy. Things seemed promising for a couple of days, but then yesterday, things took a turn. I brought him back in this morning, and he was totally blocked again; they recommended surgery. Their quote was $4100-6000, and they needed it right then and there.
I had them do a simple procedure to buy some time, so I could hopefully check around for other options. We decided to check on St. Paul's because a couple of people had recommended it. I went right from the Emergency hospital to get there as they opened. There was a parking lot FULL of cars. I called, explained what was happening, and they told me to come in immediately. By this time, Finneas had started to vomit and was choking on it; it was horrible. They took him back, but not before having me put down a $2000 deposit. I was told the total could be anywhere from $2500- $4500; the lower estimate is if he could do the surgery today. This is on top of the $2000 I have already paid to the Emergency hospital.
The vet was very nice and confirmed he was totally blocked. The plan was to get him on an IV, get some nausea meds and first, remove the blockage. Then monitor him to do the necessary surgery today, hopefully. That didn't go as planned, they had a really hard time getting the catheter in, and he said it was really bad. His kidney functions are about ten times higher than they should be, so it wasn't safe to do surgery.
The plan is now to do surgery on Friday and bring him home on Saturday. As much as I want him here, I know he is safe and resting. We couldn't care less about our Christmas fund being spent, and I absolutely feel cringy even putting this out there, but I am at the point where I am not sure how to pay for the rest of the impending bill, in turn saving my boy.
So if you are able and willing to contribute to our Christmas Miracle fund, we would appreciate any help we can get. Finneas isn't even two yet, so we have many years ahead planned with our guy, but I have to swallow my pride and realize I need help to make that happen. I know it is just a stupid cat, but we love him, and he is family. I also realize it is the worst time of year for this to happen, so if you cannot help monetarily, your good vibes and healing thoughts are appreciated just as much.
Thanks for taking the time to read my novel.
