Sallaghari Alumni Association Nepal (SAAN) is raising funds to support the victims of recent floods and landslides in the Sindhupalchok region. As the annual monsoon season begins in Nepal, the country has been hit by floods and landslides. More than 1,000 families were displaced after the Indravati River coursed through settlements in Sindhupalchowk, sweeping away several concrete bridges and inundating up to two floors of houses in Melamchi Bazaar following more than 24 hours of constant rainfall.
Similarly, Floods in the Marshyangdi river triggered by continuous rainfall have displaced more than 56 families from Tal village in Nasho Rural Municipality. Heavy rain since Tuesday has damaged roads, destroyed bridges, washed away fish farms and livestock, and wrecked homes. Hundreds of people have been forced to move to community shelters, including schools, sheds, and tents, authorities said. Aid agencies said the crisis this year could add to the social and economic woes hard hit by the pandemic.
Sallaghari Alumni Association Nepal(SAAN)- USA unit, an alumni association of Sainik Schools graduates, is raising funds to help those in the affected areas. The relief operation will be done by coordinating with the nearest Army barracks to ensure fairness in the program. We want to request all our members and well-wishers to come front and donate to help our brothers and sisters affected by this catastrophic disaster.
