A Dream of the Silver Screen
I have been watching movies and television shows since I was 5 or 6 years old, beginning with Mr. Ed. My mother told me I would jump on the bed and in my fresh Jamaican accent (I'd only been in the country less than a year) shout, "Look pon di donkey, di donkey a talk!" Yes, I thought the horse was a donkey.
By the time I was 9 years old, I would stay up late and binge watch the lineup, usually beginning with a string of comedy that led into sci-fi, then horror flicks. The Honeymooners, The Odd Couple, I Love Lucy, I Dream of Jeannie, The Twilight Zone, Star Trek, Chiller Theatre and many more. I would watch reruns of older films that were before my time; 1930s, 40s and 50s films (e.g. Imitation of Life, 1934). I watched romance, western, action, drama, comedy, science fiction, anything and everything that had a story to tell. I watched period pieces, movies set in the 1800s and before. I watched until the National Anthem played, followed by rainbow bars that filled the screen, which eventually transformed into salt and pepper static. I had fallen in love with cinema and wanted nothing more than to be a part of it.
Life and its many challenges introduced itself to me and I found myself spiraling further and further away from my dreams. Now, over four decades later, I am pursuing my dream again.
I attended a free preliminary audition on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 in Ft. Lauderdale, along with over 600 participants split between Atlanta and Ft. Lauderdale. I was not only accepted, but I ended up in the Top 10, landing myself a $200 scholarship toward the upcoming contest fees!
The company, Discovery Spotlight, is a bridge between talent and scouts who are seeking models, actors, singers and dancers. My category was modeling and acting, acting being my primary focus and goal. They loved my monologue!
Discovery Spotlight has been around for 13 years helping talented artists find their way in front of agents, managers and scouts.
Here is a short list of their success stories:

So many wonderful things have happened for several people who have gone through Discovery Spotlight. Madison Iseman landed a role in the remake of Jumanji with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Kevin Hart and Jack Black!
While participating in Discovery Spotlight won't guarantee success, it at least provides artists with the opportunity to be seen. The rest is up to them. In essence, if I can move forward with this opportunity, the rest is up to ME!!! All I need is assistance with the funds for this investment.
I have been wanting a tiny window of opportunity for so long. I would hate for money, yet again, to stand in my way.
I have performed in Dreamgirls, playing Michelle Morris at the Frankfurt Playhouse in then West Germany; in Fame: The Musical playing Mrs. Bell at the Shawnee Playhouse in The Poconos Pennsylvania; and in Rock, Roll and Remember, as a lead singer.
If you would be willing to donate anything at all toward this dream, I would be eternally grateful. The money will go toward the registration fees that cover the following:
• Photography Review with scout meet and greet (one on one networking).
• 2 additional Competitions of your choice which include: Solo Dance Competition, Fashion Runway, Swimwear, Jeans Runway, Singing, Commercial, Monologue.
• Entry to the Discovery Elite Competition to earn trophies, prizes, & Scholarships (Agents judge & score).
• Discovery Elite Awards Ceremony.
• Admission to the After-Party.
• Pre-Expo online live training sessions, videos and guides, including fundraising assistance packet, commercial scripts, photo selection guide, and interview tips.
• Call-back and Open Interviews with Agents, Managers and Scouts Sunday morning.
• Discovery Spotlight support team for follow up correspondence and continued PR for your ongoing success.
A small portion will assist with my flight and hotel stay for the event.
My promise to you is to kill it on the stage/screen in November (moved to August 13-16, 2020)!! Because if (when) I do, you never know where you might see me next!
