The Baez Family

For those of you who do not know me, my name is Kimberly, and I am starting this fundraising account for Jennifer Baez and her family. Jennifer is my friend and coworker at Terrain Cafe and an absolute gem of a human being. She is a hard-working, exemplary employee who is currently working her way through college. On top of this workload, she has also been caring for her father, William, who is battling stage four cancer. William's health recently took a turn for the worst due to an infection in his blood and exposure to Covid-19. The Baez family was given the terrible news that they should come to the hospital and say their goodbyes. Jennifer was allowed only an hour with him and had to go home, not knowing if she would ever see her father again. Her brother could not be with them during this time, as he is also battling cancer after having had his leg amputated.

 

Against all odds, a couple of days later they were told that William had made a miraculous recovery. He was no longer considered to be in an end-of-life state and may even be able to return home for a while. At this news, Jen was absolutely over the moon; there is no more precious gift than more time with someone you love. Sadly, her father remains a stage four cancer patient, a phase of cancer from which there is no recovery. Although he is currently stable, that stability remains fragile.

 

Needless to say, this has been a very distressing and traumatic time for the Baez family, and they are in need of some love and support. I am starting this fundraiser with the intention of providing some relief for them currently and a period to grieve when the time comes. I have set the goal for this fundraiser at $5,000, but I hope to greatly surpass this. I want this fundraiser to also serve as a reminder to Jennifer of how many people care about her and that she does not have to navigate this trial alone. Finally, I ask for your donations in support of this wonderful young woman and her courageous father who is still fighting to spend as much time with her as possible!
