On August 27, 2023 our lives changed. Our father, mentor, friend and protector Rick “Happy” Ebanks suffered two massive strokes. The most lively, happy, and clever man we know underwent an emergency craniotomy surgery to relieve pressure from his brain and keep him alive.

As a result of the strokes and brain surgery, our "Pop" has suffered extensive brain damage in the left and right hemispheres, paralysis in the entire left side of his body, and extremely decreased left sided vision. Prior to this situation, Rick made it his daily mission to help families by educating them about specific medications and facilities suitable for rehab and home healthcare. Now, he is in need of our guidance, protection and care.

To all that know Rick “Happy” Ebanks, we share his story in hopes that those he touched will contribute to his ongoing rehabilitation, equipment, medical fees and financial difficulties. Unfortunately, we are not prepared to cover the expenses for all the treatments needed to get our “Pop” to his fullest potential at this time. We are turning to the community, his friends, coworkers, frat brothers and anyone else that Rickey left an impression on for any assistance that could help us provide him with the best care possible.

Rick”Happy” Ebanks is scheduled for surgery on Dec 28th to re-insert his “flap” or partial skull. He and his wife, Maribel, are honored by all the well wishes, prayers and donations they received in their time of need.
