My name is Stephen Hoss. I am self-employed. Creating this was not easy. I am the man that takes care of it all, but I have found myself running into a wall. I live in Port Orange, FL. I have many satisfied customers, a list of which I would be willing to provide with their consent. I have four children and a wife. Everything was going fine until a debilitating illness around February 2025 hit me with horrible pain. I passed out on a job, so I sought medical help. I found out I had a severely infected gallbladder which needed to be removed. Seemed simple, right!? After the procedure, I was there a week. But after getting released, things got worse. I ended up going back to the hospital after I passed out again on a job and found out the surgeon left a piece of gallbladder plus some gallstones inside my body, causing a severe infection and bile leak, which also infected my kidneys and liver. They put a stent in me to stop the bile leak, which caused me to catch pancreatitis. I still have to get operated on, and the stent comes out in 3 months. Unfortunately, they would not re-operate because of the infection. I stayed a week again and was released with antibiotics. I had no medical insurance during my hospitalization. I tried the mainline insurance companies, but they were too expensive for our budget. I found a plan through the ACA, but I still have thousands of dollars in outstanding medical bills and can't pay for them. My wife works, but doesn't make enough money to pay our bills. I guess I never realized how quickly things can spiral down. It's true we are all one paycheck away from homelessness. I am looking for a hand up, not a handout. I would deeply appreciate anything that can be spared. I just feel such a depressed feeling of helplessness as it's my job as the man to be strong. Thanks for reading.
