Justin’s Heart Surgery Recovery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Justin, I’m part of the lovely community in Moose Jaw, SK.
With sudden heart pains I went to the hospital expecting a short visit and a simple treatment. Unexpectedly it turned into a longer, more serious hospital visit, when luckily my doctors were able to diagnose me with myxoma. This means that I had a benign tumour in my heart that they had to remove through open heart surgery.
Because of the invasiveness of this type of surgery, I needed to be transported by ambulance to a better equipped hospital. My recovery will require me to be off work for at least a few months, take several expensive medications, and pay for transportation to regular follow up appointments.
So far I have been recovering well and been able to return home. I’m slowly starting to feel a bit more normal though I know I have a long road ahead. The changes in my ability to physically care for myself in daily life and having to be extra cautious when hugging or holding my two young children has been overwhelming and a big emotional adjustment. Help with these expenses would take some of the worry about the financial aspect off and I greatly appreciate it in advance to anyone who can or is comfortable doing so. I also appreciate the kind messages and support from my family and friends it really means a lot!
