May the Force be with Drew!

At this point everyone knows, Andy was admitted to ICU shortly after Christmas. He tested positive for the flu, pneumonia and strep A infection in his blood and lungs. He was very sick and needed a lot of treatments to get him stabilized, he has been responding well to all his treatments and has been making improvements on a daily basis. Andy is still sedated and on a ventilator, but they have been able to lower the oxygen levels on the vent and are working very hard to get him off of it. He has been taken off 24 hour dialysis and will instead be getting it 3 times a week. Currently there is no update on when Andy will be able to get out of the hospital, and after that he will need physical therapy and rehabilitation for at least a few months before he’s back at 100%. As we all know Andy is very well loved and taken care of by his amazing wife Deni, not to mention the rest of his family and friends. Then there is all of his Amtgard family that is pulling for him too and all the amazing ICU staff that is taking such excellent care of him. So he has no shortage of love and support right now. We know that everyone has been wondering what they could do to help out, but no one really knows what is needed at this point. As Andy’s friends and family, we wanted to start this campaign to help ease a little of the worry that Deni is dealing with right now. We want Deni to be able to focus on taking care of Andy and we want Andy to focus on doing what he’s doing and getting better so we can all raise some trouble soon.

We want to thank EVERYONE for everything they are doing or will do for Andy and his family during this difficult time. He knows that we love him and we want him to get better!
