Five Acre Wood School Sensory Play Bus

Hi, my name is James, and I am the proud father of Jack (7) and twins Harry and Jessica (5.)

I have decided to pull together a team of friends and family to climb the 3 Peaks (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdonia) in 24 hours, on Saturday 9th July to raise money for a sensory play bus which will be based at Five Acre Wood School.

Both Jack and Harry attend Five Acre Wood School along with Rafi, who is the son of one of the team members Emily.

I wanted to challenge myself and do this for my boys. I want them to be proud of me and show them how proud I am of them! Both of our boys have autism along with other associated learning difficulties. Every day can prove challenging for us as a family, but every day we are learning how we can help to develop and support them.

I really wanted to give something back to the school so, this is the reason I have chosen to complete this challenge..... along with the reason that I need to shift some weight and get fit, what a great motivator.

The funds raised will go to Five Acre Wood School, an outstanding all age (2-19) day district special school for children with profound, severe and complex learning difficulties, including autistic spectrum disorder.

The School are looking to purchase a double decker bus which will be converted to a play centre with a sensory lights floor. This will enable the children to receive an enriched experience whilst at school. The funds rasied will contribute towards the hard standing of the bus, the bus, the design, the conversion and the signage to the exterior. I have included some pictures of the designs the school are considering.

Please dig deep for this exceptional project that will greatly impact the lives of the children attending the school. Thank you very much for everyone that has supported the team and donated, it really does mean everything.
