Alzheimer’s and dementia

Hey everyone
My name is Hannah and this is my story as to why Alzheimer’s is so close to my heart. From a young age I have always had a caring nature and known that this is something I wanted to take further within my adult life.
While I was in school I struggled with my own mental health and knowing that there are people out there suffering with similar things to me , I decided to take my first job in care working in a mental health unit for adults. During this time I grew and learnt so much and wanted to take my care career further, I worked within the 111 unit receiving calls and getting the correct help for the callers . During this time I realised what an impacted Alzheimer’s had on people’s life’s , I would often get related phone calls and I felt great I was there to help. I now work in a care home caring for residential and dementia residents , I love my job and feel proud that I make a difference to someone’s life everyday. Alzheimer’s is a very hard conversation to have with some people and is often not understood , I am choosing to raise money for Alzheimer’s not only because it’s close to my heart but also because often people don’t always know about this unless a loved one is affected. All the money that is raised will be towards research relating with dementia. Thank you for taking time out of your day to read my story. Hannah Mchale. More information about Alzheimer's Society: At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research. One in three people born in the UK today will develop dementia in their lifetime. We don’t want anyone to face the realities of dementia alone. That’s why your support is vital.
