My dear friend Misha is in the fight for her life against the dreaded disease Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia (IMHA .) Her immune system is producing antibodies that attack her own red blood cells, requiring her to have multiple transfusions and immunosuppression drugs just to stay alive.  Most recently, the treatment for this has actually resulted in bleeding ulcers in her digestive system resulting in her losing the precious blood she is struggling to produce and maintain.

At this point, because of the crushing costs of her treatments, I am reaching out to my friends, as well as Misha & Misha's momma's friends and anyone who has ever been loved by a furry friend, to help give to this fund, to help defray the escalating costs of Misha's treatments that she has been, & is receiving  by the amazing staff at the Cornell University Animal Hospital. These funds are needed immediately and will go a long way toward reducing the stresses and worries beyond the obvious ones that come with hoping that a precious companion will survive another day. Misha's initial round of treatments resulted in a cost of more than $5,000, and another $2000 is due today to proceed with her current treatments against an estimate of up to $4,500 to complete them.  Because of what will be needed ongoing, the goal of this campaign is reasonable, and if there is any money left over at the end of this year, we will be using it to establish a perpetual fund dedicated toward helping people in need of financial help because of the sudden illness of a companion animal.

Anyone who has ever met Misha understands that she is an amazing friend who has been a comfort to many people beyond myself. She was a comfort and protector to my mother at a time when she was infirm & confined to a chair, and she visits my father and other residents of an area nursing home, bringing delight to everyone she meets. She has been very busy lately helping to raise her 7 month old step sister "Gia" and I am sure that Gia's wonderful nature is largely due to the influences of her big sister. Lastly, I am just convinced in my heart that Misha has more to accomplish yet, and as long as it is humanly possible, every effort needs to be made in order to make it possible for her to keep spreading her love around to those who so desperately need it.
