On July 21st, the Conley family learned that the debilitating symptoms that Mike has been living with for the past several months were Cerebral Cavernous Malformations. In total, he has 7 lesions on his brain and 1 on his brain stem. If left untreated, the malformations could eventually cause paralysis or death. The Conleys were told that the doctors in Springfield, MO were not skilled enough to perform the surgery. Therefore, they had to make the cross country trip to Phoenix, AZ for Mike to receive treatment. They landed in Phoenix on September 13th for a variety of tests and appointments. The initial brain surgery was performed on September 19th to work on the frontal lobe, and the second surgery will be on September 22nd, to work on the brain stem. The possibility of rehab after the surgeries are complete is likely, so they may be in Phoenix for some time. This GoFundMe account is set up to help pay for hotel expenses, meals, and medical bills.
