Hi There,
My name is Patty Giammona and I am writing this on behalf of my wonderful sister in law Jessica Giammona. I know I have shared her story with many of you but we have a need for help so for that reason I have set up this fundraising website.
2014 was a tough year for the Giammonas. In April my mother in law Emma was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer, she fought the battle hard but lost it in October. Two weeks prior to her death Jessica was diagnosed with the same cancer, Pancreatic! We could not believe it, the odds are so slim that 2 people in the same family could have the same cancer at the same time and for her since she is under 50 (49) the odds were even less. So our family has had no break from the cancer rollercoaster and Jessica has picked up where her mom left off regarding treatment etc.
Let me share a little bit about Jessica. She is one of the most positive, upbeat people I know. Always has a smile on her face and the life of the party. She has one son Jamey (22) and he is her pride and joy. Until her diagnosis she had worked at Costco for over 10 years and was well loved by all of her co workers. Since her diagnosis she has been a fighter. Going to all of her chemo treatments with all the positivity she can muster.
Fortunately, Jessica has an incredible team at the UCSF Pancreas Center, one of the leading Pancreatic centers in the nation. Jessica has health insurance coverage, but what you may or may not know is that there are many expenses associated with cancer treatment that’s not covered.
Travel to and from UCSF for treatment requires gas money, bridge tolls, and parking expenses adding up to nearly $45/day. Plus, she has pharmaceuticals with high co-pays, or that aren’t covered at all. These expenses add up quickly, adding stress to an already difficult situation.
Please help support Jessica as she fights Pancreatic Cancer by helping to relieve some of the burden, stress, and fear of financial hardship so she can focus on getting healthy. Give a little now. Give a little later. It all helps and is very much appreciated.
