Hi, my name is Matthew and I was diagnosed with Type One Diabetes right before my 9th birthday. This diagnosis was scary and changed my life. It was a very emotional time for me and my family.

With my upcoming Bar Mitzvah, I am taking on a Mitzvah (good deed) Project. I have chosen to create care packages for children who are newly diagnosed with Type One Diabetes. These packages will be distributed through the Hassenfeld Children's Hospital at NYU, where I started my journey.

My hope is that these care packages will bring some comfort to children as they navigate this new way of life.

I want to make sure that they know, that while they have diabetes, diabetes does not have them - we can do anything....except produce insulin.
