Support Nicole's Journey to Recovery
Donation protected
Nicole Cerrati, a typically healthy 30-year-old, had recently moved back in with her parents, Mike and Sandra, due to financial difficulties. On the morning of March 19th, she woke up struggling to text her employer about her inability to go to work. She told her father she had a severe migraine and couldn’t find the right words. Mike suggested she rest until her mother returned from an early morning appointment.
When Sandra came home 20 minutes later, she checked on Nicole and felt she needed to see a doctor. Sandra asked Mike to take Nicole to CityMD while she attended her own doctor's appointment. At CityMD, Nicole's vital signs were normal, and there were no apparent issues other than the headache. However, when a nurse asked for Nicole's date of birth, she couldn't remember it. This prompted the doctor to ask additional questions and ultimately decide she needed further tests at Stony Brook Hospital.
During the transport to Stony Brook, Nicole suffered a stroke and was rushed into emergency surgery. Thankfully, she survived, but the stroke caused significant damage to the part of her brain that controls cognition, speech, memory, and basic skills. Nicole is now undergoing therapy to relearn how to read, write, and speak more fluently, aiming to recover as many of her memories and daily functions as possible.
Sandra has left her job at Pat-Med Schools to provide Nicole with the constant supervision she now requires. We are looking to raise funds to help with ongoing medical expenses, and full-time care Nicole now needs. Please help support the Cerrati family in their time of need.
