Justin's CAMEO Medical Mission Trip

Hi everyone! I am so excited to say that I was selected as 1 of 8 students to travel to Jamaica for a medical mission trip in March 2018 through the Florida State University Alpha Epsilon Delta CAMEO team.
CAMEO's (Caribbean American Medical Educational Organization) is a non-profit organization providing free medical care, medical supplies, and student educational scholarships to the underserved areas of Jamaica, Haiti and Belize. They provide general medicine, diabetes/hypertension screenings, preventative health training, distribution of medications, and coordinate corrective surgery. Their mission is to help families achieve freedom from the constraints of poverty, empowering them to live healthier lives and receive fundamental medical care that should be accessible to everyone.
I will be working in conjunction with other student volunteers and medical professionals to set up mobile clinics in villages, schools, or neighborhoods each day. Not only will I be able to serve an underserved community, but I will also be able to work closely with and learn from highly knowledgeable medical professionals.
I am so grateful for this opportunity to begin my pursuit of global medicine and humanitarian aid. Through the support of mission trips like this one as well as donations, I have the potential to help thousands of poverty-stricken men, women, and children in Jamaica. The more I learn about the worldwide shortage of healthcare, the more I feel called and empowered to make a difference. I have prayed about this opportunity for a very long time, and it is my hope that I am able to use my abilities to make a lasting impact in Jamaica.
