Dear Friends, Family and anyone else who feels compelled to read and help out: Many of you know, but to some this will come as a shock. Our very dear friend Justin Coomer and his family need our help and support. Justin's story began back around Thanksgiving, just a few short months ago. He began to notice what he thought was possibly a hernia. After a quick observation by a doctor and surgeon, it was thought to be a cyst. They performed a procedure on it in hopes to remedy this. Over a few weeks, instead of getting better, the situation got worse. Sparing very gruesome details, Justin went back to the surgeon as things were not right with the effected area. After a much more in depth observation, tests and scans, Justin and his family received news that they were not expecting to say the least. It was never a Cyst, but rather a tumor. Justin saw an oncologist the very next Monday morning and this began his nightmare. Justin was officially diagnosed with stage 3 Spindle Cell Sarcoma Cancer. This is an extremely rare, aggressive and dangerous cancer. He was in surgery the following Monday to have the tumor removed along with a lot of tissue and muscle. The surgery was successful and after another scan, they verified that they had removed all of the cancer that was centralized with the tumor. By the end of a very painful week, he had reconstructive surgery to repair his stomach and the affected area. It has been a few weeks now and he is recovering very well but his long road is far from over!
He has seen one specialist so far and has an appointment with a Sarcoma center in Houston TX next week. The treatment plan as of now is looking like a 24 week long plan and is going to be VERY aggressive. 6 Rounds of Harsh Chemo and several weeks of Radiation in hopes that it is eradicated for good!
It goes without saying that Justin and his family are about to take on head first an unimaginable amount of costs including medical and travel expenses. Justin is only 38 years old and he and Michelle have 2 amazing young boys, Luke and Levi. I know that there has already been a magnitude of help and support extended to them through meals and gift cards etc. but this will go immediately to help take some weight off of the burdens that will be left behind by the bills that will pile up.
Justin is literally in a fight for his life and anything that you can spare will help this amazing family out tremendously! Please keep them in your prayers constantly as God is the almighty healer and on behalf of Justin, Michelle and the rest of his family and friends, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
