Justin's New Heart
As you have probably seen on my FB page, our sweet friend, Samantha Degroot, has recently been through the unimaginable with her son. Justin was diagnosed with congenital cardiomyopathy as a young boy. His condition was watched closely and he remained stable for years. Justin unexpectedly became very sick and they were told that the time had come.... Justin needed a new heart.
After several weeks in the ICU and many procedures, set backs and scares he thankfully received a heart on October 5, 2020. Praise God!
While Justin's recover is progressing and we remain hopeful, there have been some disappointing setbacks and unexpected challenges. His family is dedicated to his full recovery and naturally have been at his bedside continuously. Both Samantha and Paul (Justin's parents) have taken medical leave from their jobs to be with Justin as his recovery timeframe remains uncertain.
If you are fortunate enough to know Sam D you know what an amazing person she is and you know how much she always does to help others in need. If you are in a position to help or if you feel led to contribute please do. And if you're unable please share Justin's Gofundme with your family and friends! Any contributions will go to help the family with whatever expenses they may have during this difficult time.
Thank you for reading and sharing. And, thank you for your consideration and generosity.

From Justin's mama:
It’s Friday night again. Last Friday I was praying for Justin to receive a heart. And he did receive a strong, excellent heart.
Tonight I am updating a bit and saying please keep the prayers coming! As I said last week ICU has ups and downs and we have experienced those.
The heart is strong and the indexes that are monitored and tell how the heart is functioning are good. Justin’s kidney function is improving, his liver function is improving, he’s maintaining his blood sugars well. He had an ileus and that is improving.
But he feels so weak and he has a lot of fluid retention still. Honestly this post operative phase is much worse than any of us anticipated. He walked to his doorway and back yesterday but today he was not strong enough and honestly that was a kick in my gut and my heart. Today was a hard day!
Please pray that tomorrow is better and pray for strength for this FIGHTER to fight and recover!!
