Justin's final tribute: Lets make a legacy for Justin that will go on for generations.
Who are we?
We are Thomas and Whitney, Justin's father and sister. Justin was an amazing son and brother and father to his son Ivan. We are doing this as a memorial for Justin to continue his generous legacy.
Who was Justin?
He was a father: Justin was the most amazing person you could possibly know. He was a father and brother and son. He loved his son more than words could ever say. Ivan was his "little man" no matter how old Ivan got. He adored his son and was the kind of father kids dream of having. He took Ivan deep sea fishing, to the Zoo, to museums like the La Brea Tar Pits and the Midway along with so many other places. He taught him how to work on things. He loved to go to the movies with Ivan, they went almost once a month to the theater to watch a movie together. From the time Justin split from Ivan's mother (Ivan was a year old), he fought for his son, to spend time with him, to be able to impact his life. He was given the standard 1st, 3rd, and 5th weekends of the month, and over the course of the last 11 years he went to court countless times fighting for more time. He slowly but surely got a little more time each time he went and he never stopped fighting. He said time and time again "I will fight for him until my last breath!" And he did, finally after more than a decade of court battles on the day Justin passed away he won full physical custody. Justin went out a winner and fought for his son until his last breath. He loved his son more than life itself. He taught his son to love hard, laugh hard, fight hard, and never give up.
He was a brother: Justin was a wonderful brother and he loved Whitney very much. She could not have asked for a better big brother. He was always there to catch her or pick her up if she fell. He could make her laugh the way no one else could, to the point of not being able to breathe. He always thought about her and she knew that no matter what happened she could call him and he would be there in a heartbeat. He was a shining light in her life. Her partner in crime, her confidant, her best friend. There isn't a better brother out there than Justin was to her. He was her protector and a teacher, he taught her to stand up not only for herself but for others too by example. He was the epitome of a kind, caring, generous person.
He was a son: Justin was an amazing son. He loved his parents so much. He gave his mom and dad a run for their money growing up. He was always so adventurous. He grew up to be a kind, generous, loving person. He loved to do things with his dad. They worked on cars and trucks together, went deep sea fishing countless times, went hunting together. They were two peas in a pod when they were together. He helped to look after his mom when she went through chemo. He was a rock in the family when his mom passed away from lung cancer 5 years ago. Anything his parents needed he was there, from lending an ear to lending a hand to you name it he was there. Justin was great son and he was the type of person to put others before himself, to a fault. Many people just saw the gruffness he loved to portray but anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Justin knew once you were his friend you were his family. He would give you the shirt off his back. He loved deeply and wholeheartedly, and it showed in the relationships he had around him. He had a hilarious sense of humor, quick witted and comedic. He could make anyone laugh at any time. His laugh and love will be sorely missed.
Why are we doing this?
We are doing the Go Fund Me in honor and in memorial of Justin. He wanted Ivan to be able to attend college. His sister has a baby on the way and he would want his niece or nephew to have the opportunity to go to college as well. He was abundantly generous throughout his life and now we would like to keep his memory and generosity alive in a way that will continue to impact the lives of those he loved dearly. Please help us honor him. Whitney and Thomas will split the funds between Ivan and Justin's soon to be niece or nephew and will be put into an account to grow until they are old enough to go to college.
