Justin Van Allen meant so much to so many people. Friend, peer, co-worker, mentor. But, above all, he was a husband (Cindy), a father (Faith, Jaden, McKenna, Nathanael, Joshua), a grandfather (Ivan, Maxwell) and a dog dad!

On June 2, at only 47 years old, Justin was taken from everyone in an instant - while walking his dogs in a public park.

His family is reeling, and have not even been able to think about what comes next - they only know they will be facing it without their hero, their patriarch, their "breadwinner".

Justin's life was a meaningful one. He made a positive difference. He was good to people, and was beloved by all. There is no reason at all that it was Justin to whom this happened. We will never be able to make sense of it.

Many people have asked how they can help Justin's family. This GoFundMe is being created to give them that opportunity. The funds will be used to offset expenses including funeral costs, counseling, and providing for his family's future needs as they try to recover and rebuild.

(My connection to Justin is that he was "father-in-law" (and, much to Jaden's chagrin, best buddy) to my son Jack, who has been Jaden's boyfriend for the past 7 years.
