Justin Montoya’s Home Accessibility Remodel

Justin Montoya ~“PRIMO!!” Also known to many as a great friend! With his larger-than-life laugh and his big friendly smile, you can always spot Justin in any room making a new friend or helping a friend out and doing it with a big smile on his face. He truly makes whatever you’re doing or going through much better.

As many of you may already know, Justin’s left leg was amputated due to complications with diabetes in late March of this year. What started out as a fight to save his leg became a desperate fight to save his life. Sadly, to save his life, his leg had to be removed. The last three months have been a whirlwind for him and his wife, Carol. This has completely altered their lives.

Thankfully, Justin is home now. While he and Carol are focused on the healing process, we are hoping to address the modifications to their home to ensure a safe and accessible living environment. The bathroom currently has a tub-shower combo that is proving to be extremely difficult for him to use. We are raising funds to remodel the bathroom with a walk-in/roll-in shower for easy use with a wheelchair and/or shower chair. Widening the bathroom doorway, adding hand bars within the bathroom and throughout the house, and other necessary accessories as needed to ensure Justin can move around his home freely. Lastly, we need to address the exterior wheelchair ramp. It needs handrails, frame safety bumpers, and additional specialty equipment needed to stabilize it to make it function safely and bring it up to code. Any donations beyond what is needed for modifications will be given to Justin and Carol to help them with food and living expenses.
