Justin Killian Mobile Home Fire Damage
Donation protected
J. Killian, from Taylorsville, Alexander County, NC, a good friend and Co-worker of my husband, had a Fire in his Mobile Home on Sunday December 6, 2020.
While away from his home, helping a friend for about 1hr, a the fire started in his living room. There was significant damage to his Mobile Home. Smoke damage through out, water damage to walls and floor of living room, busted door, windows, walls where the Fire Department had to gain entrance to extinguish the fire. Fire and water damage to furniture.
The Fire Marshal investigate and found it was an electrical fire from a newer cell phone charger plugged into an outlet (the charger still draws power even though no device is connected). The County Fire Marshal stated that he has seen this a lot in older model mobile homes.
Because it was an electrical fire, the power Company turned off the power and pulled the Meter.
Justin did not have any homeowners insurance or personal property insurance.
He is unsure or the cost to make it livable again and doesn't have the funds at this time to do the repairs or to purchase a used mobile to replace this one.
He will have to get an Electrical contractor to pull a permit to fix the electrical to pass inspections and to get Temporary power to do the repairs. Also since temps are down below freezing possible damage to water lines from the well. He has drained the lines from what he could.
Any amount you can give will help him with living expenses and to repair the damage to a livable condition, or replace with a newer mobile home.
